Real Estate Success Mutual Friend Cold Calling Real Estate Success
I call for the purpose of getting real estate listings. A family member who has been trained to screen income calls and asks, “Does Mr. Real Estate Property Owner know what this call is in reference to?”
Naturally, the person answering the phone is trying to evaluate who I am and lastly is the decision maker on whether I will speak to the property owner. With this in mind, I say, “We have a mutual friend, Mr. John Smith.” I do this tactic even when the mutual friend has nothing to do with the reason I am calling for, which is the most often the case. If we do not have a mutual friend, and I know the real estate listing prospect has an interest in football, baseball or golf, as I do, I say, “We share a common interest and I was calling to discuss it.” If the party is not in, I always leave a message stating my name and that I will call back. I believe it is always good to get my name in front of a real estate property owner.
